Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description


To perform Maintenance as directed by supervisor.


• Safely perform preventative checks and services on assigned equipment.
• Review machine issues with operators, Supervisors, Managers, etc. and communicate
• Utilize maintenance software to track labor hours and cost for equipment
• Navigate through machinery operational and maintenance manuals to understand equipment
functionality as well as locate parts
• Perform Preventative, Predictive, and Corrective maintenance successfully
• Establish and maintain working relationships with all employees
• Provide daily detailed reporting of equipment/facility issues
• Assemble and build machine mechanical components
• Clear jams and set aside product for inspection and rework
• Troubleshoot through pneumatic control issues and make repairs necessary
• Identify changes in dimensional requirements of machines/parts by inspecting utilizing tape measure,
caliper, etc. and making corrective repairs needed in a timely manner
• Minimize downtime by communicating issues with production/maintenance to make repairs during
proper provided downtime
• Identify issues by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision
measuring and testing instruments
• Maintain operation of condensers/cooling units on equipment and facilities
• Maintain a clean work area and safe work environment
• Properly understand and perform lock out/tag out on any machine or equipment at any time
maintenance is performed
• Follow company GMP Policy guidelines at all times
• Properly and timely fill out all logs and records associated with the position
• Operate hand tools properly
• Lubricate machinery as per manufacturing and/or organizational specifications
• Perform utility rounds and properly document readings/issues
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
• Instruct and direct any maintenance trainees assigned


Continuous use of both hands, including grasping, pulling and pushing; use of sight, hearing; walking and balancing on even and uneven surfaces; standing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching forward, reaching overhead and below the shoulder; capable of working in hot and cold environments (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 105° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F); must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.


• 2 years Maintenance Mechanic experience
• 2 years in Food Manufacturing experience
• Trained in Lock out/Tag out
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend over, climb stairs and ladders and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operator power tools safety/efficiently
• Understanding of pneumatic controls
• Basic understanding of electrical components/controls
• Attention to detail when performing all aspects of job
• Able to troubleshoot mechanical issues and make adjustments/repairs necessary
• Source machinery/facility parts for repairs
• Utilize maintenance software system, Microsoft office, and Word
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals/drawings
• Ability to learn to safely operate scissor lift and forklift
• Valid Drivers License

Rate of Pay
$16.00 or DOE
